TAMING YOUR THOUGHTS

GreatIdea2

Blessings to you beloved! Here are some words for you to ponder upon as you go through this day…

I will begin by quoting this famous verse:

As he thinketh in his heart, so is he…’ Prof. 23:7

Questions for you: What do you think of yourself? What is your attitude about life like?

The Word of God teaches that what you allow in your mind will influence who you ultimately become. In essence, before you can be anything in the physical world, your thoughts will have already created it in your unseen and internal world. Again, what this means is that your intangibles [inner thought patterns] will turn into tangibles. It is impossible for you to become something you have not already conceived and pictured within your mind.

This is why the Word of God encourages us to carefully watch over what we allow in our minds. The kingdom of darkness will launch an assault on you so that, if possible, they can lower your view of God, self, and others. So many thoughts that people think do not actually originate from themselves. They are in real sense injections of the kingdom of darkness. This is why it is so important for you to know the Word of God for yourself: Because it will empower you to differentiate the truth from the lies.

When we look at the Word, we find Paul encouraging the Corinthian Church to aggressively deal with demonic thought patterns and mental strongholds that are launched against them by Satan: for he says to them of the demonic assaults, ‘Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.’ So there are thoughts which will want to exalt themselves oppose what God has said about you.

Child of God, the Lord wants only one standard for your mind: that is the Word. He wants you to possess a mind like Christ’s. ‘Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:’ Phil. 2:5. I submit to you that if you can give your mind over to God so that He will direct your thoughts, you will be able to live one of the greatest lives ever lived on the earth.

In another place in the Word, God begins to differentiate himself from us. He says that His thoughts and His ways are far much of a higher level just as the heavens are high above the earth. Think about how great you can be then, and how great things you can accomplish when you begin to think like God! For the Lord desires that we think, speak, and act as He does! This kind of transformation starts with a deep love for the Word.

Now, let me say this: When the words of an author become a part of you, you begin to enter the same realm of authority as the author. Question for you: of all the authors you know out there in the world, is there any one of them who can rival the words written by God in the Word? I bet not! Shouldn’t we then develop a great love for the Word of God? For in the scriptures we find the thoughts of God and His ways revealed. From them we learn to think and act as He does, and to avoid what is not like Him.

This is what Paul told the Philippians, ‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’ He was teaching them to train directing their thoughts towards only what was beneficial to them.

In essence Paul was saying, Keep your mind from the lies of the enemy; do not let your mind dwell on anything that will make you a dishonest person; focus on what is right and just; keep your mind from impure and evil thoughts; do not entertain any negative thoughts, and if you find any thought in your mind which you know if someone else knew about it they would rebuke you, do not entertain it.

Take note beloved that your mind is the arena of either of two things: victory or defeat, success or failure, peace or confusion, greatness or timidity. Understand also that your thoughts determine your attitude towards life, and your attitude will ultimately also determine your altitude. I am certain that you do not want to walk around with a defeated or victim mentality, no, for if you will be great in this life, you need to be armed with a victors’ mentality: ‘I am victorious!’

I will add this statement to this article: Everything you do in life starts as a thought. Think of it in this way: your life is a car, and your thoughts are the steering wheel. Whichever direction you allow your thoughts to flow is the same direction your life will follow. That means you must be careful over what you allow into your mind. You can either choose to fill it with the things of this world, or you can fill it with the things of the kingdom of God.

This is why Paul said these words to the Church in Rome, ‘And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind [through the Word of God], that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’ Parentheses mine. In essence he was saying this to them, ‘If you want to live out the will of God for your life, you will be watchful over what you allow into your mind. You will renew it with the word – kicking out your old ways of thinking and beginning to focus on what the Word of God commands.

When God began to give Joshua the divine formula for success, He said these words to him: ‘This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.’ In other words, God was saying to him, If you focus on what I have commanded, meditate and ponder upon My words, you will have good success. Now, that should be fairly easy for everyone to do: just take your Bible and begin to think over the words of God!

Finally, I would like to say these words concerning this topic: The value you put on yourself is the same value other people will also put on you. So if you don’t like yourself, no one will like you either. If you don’t raise the bar of your value, rest assured that no one will come to do it for you. But if you highly esteem yourself, other people will follow suit and respect you.

If you think you are beautiful, everyone will see it in you. If you think you are sharp, others will see it too, because you will act and speak sharp. If you think you are ugly and silly, that is how other people will see you. If you think you are wealthy, soon it will be seen. If you think you are anointed, soon it will also be seen. Whatever you conceive as possible or impossible in your mind will soon manifest in your life. What that means is that you are just one thought away from a transformed life [in any area of struggle you are experiencing right now].

In conclusion, Henry Ford once said these words, ‘Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.’ The wise King Solomon also said ‘As he thinketh in his heart, so is he…’ Hey, you are the direct result of your thought patterns.

Change your thoughts today and watch your life beginning to take radical changes as well!

Your best is yet to come!
